Aurora is a tiny lakeside village in the Finger Lakes, and getting there is half the charm. Plan for country roads and water views at the end of the drive.
The closest airports are Ithaca (ITH), about 45 minutes away, and Syracuse (SYR), about an hour. Rochester (ROC) is roughly an hour and a half. A rental car is the way to go; there is no ride-share to count on in Aurora.
Aurora sits on the east shore of Cayuga Lake on Route 90. About 25 minutes from Auburn, 45 minutes from Ithaca, around 1 hour 45 from Vestal and Binghamton, and roughly 4.5 to 5 hours from New York City.
The wedding is at the Inns of Aurora, a collection of historic inns in the village itself, steps from the ceremony. Rooms are limited and July is their busiest season, so book early once details arrive.
Room block details coming soonIf the inns fill, Auburn (about 25 minutes) has familiar hotel options, and the Finger Lakes are full of charming B&Bs, lake rentals, and wineries with rooms between Aurora and Ithaca.
The short version: Sunday, July 11, 2027, lakeside at the Inns of Aurora, and yes, it's black tie.
Tuxedos and evening gowns, and we mean it in the most joyful way. Think classic and elegant: long dresses, dark suits at minimum for the gentlemen, your finest for a golden summer evening by the water.
Expect a warm, beautiful summer day, generally in the 80s, with a lovely breeze off the water and cooler air after sunset. A light wrap for the evening is a good idea.
The ceremony is on the lawn overlooking the lake. Wedges, block heels, or flats will be your friends on the grass; save the stilettos for the dance floor.
Your presence is truly the best present. Registry details will appear here closer to the day.
Coming soonThe ceremony begins at 4:30 PM lakeside. Plan to arrive by 4:00 so you can find a seat and take in the view.
The Inns of Aurora, 378 Main Street, Aurora, New York 13026. The ceremony and celebration are both on the property.
Your invitation will be addressed to everyone included in your party. If you have a question about yours, just reach out to us directly.
We're planning some extra time together around the big day. Details will land right here as they're finalized, so check back.
The postcard is real. The inn on the front of your save the date has stood on the shore of Cayuga Lake since 1833.
The Aurora Inn is a brick landmark with double white verandas, carved fireplaces, parquet floors, and grandfather clocks that have been keeping time for nearly two centuries. We visited once and never really left.
The lawns roll down to Cayuga Lake, the longest of the Finger Lakes, and the view faces west, which means the sun sets over the water. That golden hour is exactly when we'll be celebrating.
You'll be in the heart of Finger Lakes wine country. Wineries line both shores of the lake, Taughannock Falls is a short drive south, and the village itself is made for slow walks and porch sitting.
More of our story to come. For now: we found a place that felt like us, and we can't wait to fill it with everyone we love.
